Bach Flower Essences are the system of plant and flower-based essences that were developed in the 1930’s by Dr. Edward Bach, a successful and eminent physician who was convinced that emotional well being was the key to good health.

In the latter part of Dr. Bach’s career, he spent his life exploring the use of flowers and plants to bring a simple, natural and gentler approach to emotional balance. Solid modern research has since been done that supports the relationship between molecular messengers created by emotional states and the immune system with which Dr. Bach based his research and essences on. An animal or human’s health and wellbeing are very much intertwined.

Each of the safe, non-toxic 38 essences addresses a specific state of mind, way of thinking, and/or emotional state in both animals and humans. Each flower essence rebalances its respective emotional state to help the body find its own natural state of health physically and otherwise, rather than the essence effecting direct changes to physical problems and illnesses.

As part of my animal practice I offer consultations or Remedies given during a session (with permission by the animal’s person and without charge). Consultations are a comprehensive intake of your animal’s health and lifestyle. During the course of an initial bodywork intake session, this information can be collected. However, for those doing only virtual or phone consultations, I will arrange a time to meet via Zoom or phone to go over your animal’s history so that I understand all of the factors involved in your animal’s individual situation. After the consultation, I will put together a recommended plan of Essences including why certain Essences were chosen, dosing and how to administer, as well as if you the owner should also take the same or different Essences. I will then email you this recommendation and we can discuss what you would like to do moving forward.

I have found Bach Flower Essences very helpful for animals (and their humans) in the following situations (not all inclusive):

  • Grief; the loss of an animal’s pair bond
  • Trauma
  • Spookiness
  • Disinterested behavior
  • Depression
  • Anxiousness
  • Lack of confidence
  • Trailering (horses or other livestock)
  • Veterinary and/or farrier issues
  • Separation anxiety
  • Fear around loud noises (fireworks, etc.)

…just to name a few.

Before I work with animals with any of these challenges I always want to be sure your veterinary has checked your animal and ruled out any medical, concerning behavior, or other issues before proceeding. It is alway very important to have your veterinarian see your pet or animal if he or she begins showing sudden changes in mood, behavior or temperament.
